Matcha Phorn-in Attends the Launch of the Queer Forced Displacement Network

From May 6–8, 2026, Matcha Phorn-in representatives from the Sangsan Anakot Yawachon and a members of Action Network on Forced Displacement, attended From Insight to Action: Launching the Queer Forced Displacement Network, the culminating conference of Rainbow Railroad’s Queer Forced Displacement Initiative (QFDI).

Over the past two years, the initiative has carried out regional consultations across five countries, convened an Academic Symposium, and co-created a draft Multi-Stakeholder Declaration. The declaration was collectively signed by founding members of the network, marking an important transition from research and dialogue toward collective action to advance protection, advocacy, and coordinated support for LGBTQI+ people experiencing forced displacement.

As one of the founding member organizations and signatories of the Queer Forced Displacement Network Declaration, Future Youth Foundation joined international stakeholders in shaping collaborative approaches to protection, advocacy, and policy development for LGBTQI+ displaced communities. The conference also created an important space for learning from the lived experiences of LGBTIQAN individuals affected by forced displacement through plenary discussions, collaborative workshops, and strategic dialogues.

This experience strengthened our understanding of queer forced displacement issues, intersectional protection frameworks, and community-led approach. It also reinforced our commitment to contributing regional perspectives and building partnerships from the local to the global level in support of future coordinated action and sustainable protection mechanisms for displaced LGBTQI+ communities.
