Indigenous Peoples–Asia Pacific Program: A Consultation on Sharing Lessons Learned and Building a Strategy for the Indigenous Peoples Capacity Building Program

Matcha Phorn-in, Founder and Executive Director of the Sangsan Anakot Yawachon Foundation and alumni of Diplomacy Training Program (DTP), was invited to participated in participate in the “Indigenous Peoples–Asia Pacific Program: A Consultation on Sharing Lessons Learned and Building a Strategy for the Indigenous Peoples Capacity Building Program”, held from 25–27 June 2026 at the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The workshop aims to collectively assess, strengthen, and strategically shape human rights and Indigenous Peoples’ rights capacity building in Asia by learning from past experiences, identifying current needs, and fostering collaboration and solidarity for stronger Indigenous movements and advocacy.

As an organization led by Indigenous women of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC), the Sangsan Anakot Yawachon Foundation is proud to contribute to these strategic discussions and share experiences gained through the Indigenous Peoples, Human Rights, and Business and Human Rights Training Programme, we continue to promote approaches that integrate gender equality, SOGIESC inclusion, intersectionality, human rights, and business and human rights frameworks in strengthening the capacities of Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous organizations, and Indigenous communities.

We believe that meaningful capacity building must be grounded in the lived realities of Indigenous communities , especially women, girls and LGBTIQAN+ and support Indigenous Peoples’ rights, economic justice, self-determination, and collective well-being.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Diplomacy Training Program (DTP) and the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) for creating this important space for learning, reflection, and solidarity. Through our collective efforts, we continue to strengthen Indigenous movements and advance justice, dignity, and self-determination for Indigenous Peoples across Asia.
