Training of Trainers programme entitled “Designing and Facilitating Participatory Human Rights Education Trainings"

Matcha Phorn-in, founder and executive director of Sangsan Anakot Yawachon Foundation shared her experience participating in the Training of Trainers programme entitled “Designing and Facilitating Participatory Human Rights Education Trainings,” hosted by Equitas Human Rights

“After completing the International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) in 2017, I finally invited by Equitas Human Rights to attend the Training of Trainers programme entitled “Designing and Facilitating Participatory Human Rights Education Trainings,” held from April 19–24, 2026, in Arusha. The training was designed for alumni of the IHRTP and regional training sessions who had demonstrated strong facilitation skills.

This experience deepened my understanding of how to design and facilitate participatory human rights education trainings in meaningful and transformative ways. I learned how to create safe, inclusive, and participatory learning environments, while strengthening my understanding of participatory approaches and their connection to social change. The programme also revisited key steps in the training development cycle and enhanced practical facilitation skills, including managing group dynamics, applying participatory techniques, and co-facilitating effectively.

One of the most valuable parts of the training was the opportunity to design and facilitate a short learning activity and receive structured feedback from both facilitators and peers. This experience strengthened my confidence, sharpened my facilitation practice, and inspired me to continue using human rights education as a tool for empowerment and social transformation.
